Red Path Sugar has decided to add four (4) storey’s to their existing one (1) storey warehouse at their building located just east of downtown at the foot of Jarvis Street at Queen’s Quay. The building opened in 1958 and is used to house the storage and refining plant for Red Path Sugar. The subject building is approximately 100 feet by 160 feet. It consists of bag storage, a service garage, general storage and a depressed ramp. The foreseen challenges bare at the foundation of the existing structure as an additional four storey’s at a location nearby Lake Ontario will cause all sorts of difficulties. AJW Engineering has been retained as the prime structural engineering consultant to provide full structural engineering services, including the review of the feasibility of the intended four (4) storey addition and to design the new proposed addition.
